about
After a longer pause I have finally released a new track! I genuinely hope that you'll enjoy it. While you're listening, some interesting notes about the background of this track: originally it was meant to feature an excerpt from HBO's Chernobyl, but I didn't want to run into copyright problems.
The title refers to the speech made by the soldier who tells the story of when he shot someone for the first time. He said he expected to be changed by the event, but he wasn't. I thought this was true for most major characters on the show: they had to make decisions that they never knew they could make and were afraid of the idea that it would fundamentally change who they are.
lyrics
Lyrics / spoken word:
Identity is like a wall.
All your life you’re led to believe that you are meant to be searching for it, but this is not true.
You are not seeking your identity, you are it’s architect. You’ll need courage to demolish it, but it will emerge stronger as you rebuild it.
And as long as you have faith that your wall stands for something...you’re still yourself.

My love for this album is growing each time I listen to it. Such good vibes. Favorited Lazerstep because of the cowbell :D but the whole story is awesome <3 Krostif
“Automated Refrains” is a mighty, marvelous collection of pulsing synthwave, containing both rippling ambiance and industrial bangers. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 11, 2017
Here kitty, kitty! The synthwave genius returns with a whole new batch of hooky, metal-edged songs that are more fun than a ball of yarn. Bandcamp New & Notable Jun 11, 2022

Poetic, crystalline, elegant - "Sentient" is a perfect complement to "Escape...", focusing a bit more on rhythmic exploration. It may feel less painterly and more ascetic in the process (e.g. tracks like "Activate"), but if you stay tuned there's plenty of the cathartic synthwork and conceptual depth that made Oscillian a go-to act for me. Add vocal banger "The Brightest Cry" and a Blade Runner-esque "Coda" and you're in for a ride. x0riente
